Europcar launch Eco-conscious competition to win a Fiat 500

Europcar has launched a competition to win a Fiat 500 following a win as the European Leader for CO2 Emissions for the second year running
The competition is running until October 15, 2009 and can be played on the ‘Fiat Green’ dedicated Europcar micro site. Entry is restricted to those living within Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Austria and Belgium, where the competition is currently being run.

Bird-eating fanged frog one of 163 new species found in Greater Mekong in past year

A bird-eating fanged frog, a gecko that looks like it’s from another planet and a bird that would rather walk than fly are among the 163 new species discovered in the Greater Mekong region last year that are now at risk of extinction due to climate change, says a new report launched by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) ahead of UN climate talks in Bangkok.

Ecominds gives £1.25m boost to national eco-projects

Five environmental organisations have been awarded a maximum £250,000 each to deliver flagship projects as part of a national wellbeing and environmental campaign (1). Eco-initiatives given the green light include an organic farm offering therapy to disadvantaged young people and an eco-burial service which gives people the chance to have an environmentally friendly send off. The organisations fought off tough competition to receive the money from mental health charity Mind’s oversubscribed grant scheme Ecominds, funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
